The Northwest Institute of Discovery and Investigation
A Private Organization Dedicated to Exploring the Known and Unknown in Our Universe

  ABOUT US   NWIDI—Fact or Fiction?

NWIDI is both fictional and real. In 2001, author R.J. Archer created the fictional entity in his first novel of the Seeds of Civilization series. In 2005, while researching locations for his third novel, Mr. Archer’s fascination with MEGA - the so called “lost city of Cuba” - developed into a serious investigation of the facts surrounding the underwater site and this research was done under the same NWIDI banner.

The
fictional NWIDI, as portrayed in the novels, is a non-profit organization headed by Dr. Frank Morton and includes series characters Tony Nicoletti, Linda McBride and Professor Jim Barnes. Initially funded by Frank’s Powerball winnings, it’s now self-sufficient thanks to several lucrative contracts with the U.S. Government. Hereafter, we’ll refer to it as NWIDIF.

The
real NWIDI had a much more modest begin
ning and today remains the passion of its founder, R.J. Archer. Hereafter, we’ll refer to it simply as NWIDI. Through an affiliated company, NWIDI Press, Mr. Archer will soon publish The MEGA Report, an updated review of the discovery, exploration and possible implications of the ancient archeological ruins found on the ocean floor just off the northwest coast of Cuba.
